Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has extended his contract for one more year with the Gunners. This is quite surprising because Lehmann has had a miserable season with Arsenal this year, committing lots of mistakes especially in the corner and free kick situations.
Some may argue that goalkeeper is only as good as his defender and with the likes of Ashley Cole and Sole Campbell parted way from Arsenal, Gunners at present are banking on young defenders who are prone to making mistakes.
According to reports, Lehmann was more interested in a two-year contract with Arsenal but as he is over 30, he was given only a 1-year extension contract according to Arsenal’s policy.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has lot of faith in Lehmann’s abilities and is of the view that he is a great motivator within the team. Lehmann stay at Arsenal will mean that Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin have to look out for other goalkeeper because they were of the opinion that Lehmann will not get an extended contract with Arsenal and they can easily lure Lehmann in joining them for next season.
